Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto on Friday reiterated the demand for immediate stop of all the death sentences in Iran, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Referring to the recent executions related to protest Haavisto also expressed concern over the death sentence carried out by the Iranian government, the ministry wrote in a twitter post.

“Appalled by the recent protest-related executions in Iran. Deeply concerned of the high number of executions in Iran this year. Finland is against Death Penalty at all times and in all circumstances. We call on Iran to end the use of death penalty immediately,” the ministry wrote in the twitter, quoting Haavisto as saying.

Iran on Friday executed three individuals for carrying out an armed attack in the central city of Isfahan last year that killed three security forces, reported Xinhua, quoting Mizan news agency of the Iranian judiciary.

According to Mizan, the convicts had carried out the attack in the city's Khane Esfahan area on November 16, 2022 in a "previously-coordinated action," which killed three security forces and injured several others.

Earlier in this month, Haavisto reiterated the demand for immediate stop of all the death sentences in Iran.

In January 2023, the Foreign Minister also demanded stop of all the death sentences in Iran.
