3 fuel thieves held in Rovaniemi

Three people were arrested on charge of stealing fuel from trucks at a depot in Rovaniemi industrial area late Sunday night, said police in a press release on Monday.

Police said that the alleged thieves were stealing fuel from the trucks to plastic containers using pumping machine.

A patrol of Rovaniemi police rushed to the spot and chased them but the alleged thieves initially managed to escape keeping the fuel containers and pumping equipment behind.

A police team with a dog squad later conducted extensive search at the area and arrested the three persons from the nearby forest.

The police destroyed the pumping equipment and handed the theft fuel to the owner.
