The number of births was 6,209 lower than the number of deaths in the country from January to April this year, according to Statistics Finland.

Finland's population was 5,571,439 at the end of April.

Last year, the country registered 1.32 births per woman, the lowest level since the records started in 1776. In 2021, the figure was 1.46.
