4 drug related deaths spotted in Rovaniemi

Four people died reportedly after taking extremely dangerous narcotics in Rovaniemi during this week, said police in a press release on Friday.

All the deceased were men aged between 30 years to 50 years and the bodies were recovered from their private apartments.

Police, however, did not divulge the identities of the deceased.

Police suspected that one kind of pink powder narcotic falsely marketed as amphetamine caused the deaths and members of the law enforcing agency are investigating into the case as drug crime.

The ingredients of the drugs could not be known immediately.

After the preliminary investigation, police said that the drug might be the synthetic opioid "Isonitazen", which is classified as extremely dangerous and exceptional in Finland.

Police are also searching the people involved in manufacturing and marketing of the drug and warned that marketing of an illegal drug, which causes death could be charged as murder.
