Mother, stepfather held for death of minor child in Joensuu

A minor child was reportedly killed inside a private apartment at Rantakylä area in Joensuu on Thursday, police said in a press release on Friday.

The police arrested the mother and the stepfather of the four-year old child in connection with the death and investigating into the incident as murder.

Responding to an alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to the apartment on Thursday morning and recovered the body of the child from the spot.

Police found marks of several injuries at different parts of the body of the victim.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the child and the suspects at the initial stage of the investigation.

Investigation is going on to find out the reason and motive behind the death.
