Finland opens round the clock communication for Finns travelling Greece

Finns travelling Greek island of Rhodes were urged to follow the instructions of the local authorities as Greece started evacuation due to wildfire, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs late Saturday night.

The ministry in a twitter post just before midnight said the Finnish tourists can communicate with the ministry over telephone round the clock in case of emergency.

“The Greek authorities are evacuating tourists from the wildfire area of ​​Rhodes towards the northern part of the island. More information is available on the emergency number 112. Follow the instructions of the local authorities, inform your loved ones about your situation,” said the twitter post, adding that the ministry could be communicated over phone at the number +358916055555 or email address [email protected] at 24/7 in case of emergency.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from homes and hotels on the Greek island of Rhodes after wildfires engulfed large parts of the island, reported British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The fire service authority of the country described the fires as the most difficult it is currently facing.

It is estimated more than 3,500 people have been moved by land and sea to safer locations, the BBC report added.
