Finland boasts a very strict Customs control forcing some of concealed drug trafficking networks to avoid shipments to the country's borders, according to a recent report from European drug agency EMCDDA and Europol.
Citing the report, local media reported that the result of the strict measures may lead to a creation of a domestic drug market where trade is primarily conducted within the borders of the country.
The report states that some of the drug trafficking networks would not agree to dispatch drugs to Finland or compensate for lost shipment intended to reach the country.
This is a result of strict the measures and well-regulated customs control.
Other countries which were listed by drug traffickers as having tight control include Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Israel, the Netherlands, Canada, the United States, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
