Finnish, Swedish ministers discuss, future, expansion of EU

Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Anders Adlercreutz on Friday met Sweden's EU Minister Jessika Roswall at the Europe Forum in Turku and discussed various issues including the future and enlargement of the European Union, said a government press release.

The ministers of the neighbouring countries also discussed the mid-term review of the multiannual financial framework and the preparation of the EU's strategic agenda for 2024–2029.

They also discussed the bilateral relations between Finland and Sweden.

“I am pleased to have had several meetings with the Swedish Minister for EU Affairs, Jessika Roswall. Cooperation between our two countries is more important now than ever before. Sweden is mentioned, for the first time, in our Government Programme as Finland's closest partner. In EU affairs, we have a number of key issues that require cooperation between like-minded countries as concerns, for example, the internal market and the rule of law mechanism,” Adlercreutz said.

Adlercreutz also had discussions with Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

They exchanged views on the current foreign and security policy situation and the internal market.
