15 killed in road mishaps in Finland in Aug

A total of 15 people were killed and 385 others injured in 318 road accidents in Finland in August 2023, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of persons killed was one lower and the number of injured people was 63 lower compared to the stipulated month of the previous year.

Of the persons who were killed, eight travelled by passenger car, two by van and three by motorcycle.

Killed pedestrians numbered two. No cyclist was killed in August.

Among those who died, 14 were men and one was a woman.

Meanwhile, at least 110 persons were killed and 2,322 persons injured in 1,873 road traffic accidents from January to August period.

‘The number of persons killed was nine lower and the number of injured persons was 248 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022.

Of the persons who were killed, 57 travelled by passenger car, 12 by van, one by moped and 13 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed numbered 13 and cyclists five. In addition, nine other road users were killed.
