17 killed road mishaps in Finland in October

A total of 17 persons were killed and 323 others injured in 257 road accidents in October 2023, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of deceased was six higher and that of persons injured 51 higher compared to the numbers in October 2022.

Of the persons who were killed, seven travelled by passenger car, one by motorcycle and one by lorry. The number of pedestrians killed in was four while three cyclists and another road user were also killed.

Among the deceased, 12 were men and five were women.

Meanwhile, a total of 151 persons were killed and 3,035 others injured in 2,460 road traffic accidents in Finland in January-October period.

The number of persons killed was five lower and that of persons injured 155 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022.

Of the persons who were killed, 74 travelled by passenger car, 12 by van, one by moped, 19 by motorcycle and one by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 19 and cyclists 15. In addition, 10 other road users were killed.
