173 people killed in road mishaps in Finland in 2023

A total of 173 people were killing and 3,606 others injured in 2,903 road accidents in Finland in the last year, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of deaths was 23 lower and number of persons injured 232 lower in 2023 than in the corresponding period of 2022.

Out of the deceased, 90 travelled by passenger car, 12 by van, one by moped, 20 by motorcycle and one by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 21 and cyclists 16. In addition, 12 other road users were killed, four of whom were on snowmobiles and seven on quad tractors.
