Post-Xmas Eve delinquency keeps police busy

The police received alerts from a large number of homes on the night of Christmas Eve.

The local media quoted the police stationed at situation centres in different areas of the country as saying that most of the alerts ended in merely house calls.

The Helsinki police also had to deal with several incidents of assault. According to the Helsinki police, the number of alarms that came from homes on that night was just about the same as the number of calls received on a normal weekday.

The Ostrobothnia police, on the other hand, said they received more home calls and had to deal with more violent crimes than any normal weekday.

The night also saw two robberies taking place in the coastal City of Turku.

Many a road mishap that night caused mainly by the slippery roads, as the traffic police also apprehended several motorists while driving intoxicated.
