Customs, Tukes warn against imported fireworks

Authorities have warned that many restrictions are in place to prevent consumers from importing or ordering fireworks abroad.
The Finnish Customs and the Finnish Safety and Chemical Agency (Tukes) have pointed out that ordering of fireworks and fireworks requisites online has been on the rise,local media reported.
The law regulates import, transport, sale and the use fireworks. Ordering of fireworks to be delivered to a home address is for instance, forbidden.
Online purchases are only permitted if the product is picked up from a selling point approved by the Finnish rescue authority.
Much of the fireworks ordered are detected especially by sniffer dogs while sorting cargo. The sale of fireworks for New Year's celebration in Finnish shops begin on Wednesday. The fireworks can, however, only be used from 6 pm on New Year’s Eve to 2 am on New Year’s Day.
