1 gunned down in Merirauma, suspect held

One person was killed in gunshots at an apartment building at Merirauma, an area at the northern part of Rauma, a municipality in Satakunta region on Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested one suspect of the murder and recovered a firearm from the area after the murder, police said in a press release.

Police said that they received information of several rounds of gunshot at the area at about 1:00 pm and rushed to the spot immediately.

Members of the law enforcing agency raided the area and conducted extensive search. They arrested one person and recovered a firearm from the spot.

Police said that there were two shooters and continued to the search to arrest the person.

At certain stage of the searching, police found a body inside a room of a private apartment.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the suspected killer.

The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.

Police are investigating into the incident as murder and interrogating the suspect and witnesses to disclose more information in this regard.
