Ukraine deserves our full support: Niinistö

President Sauli Niinistö on Saturday expressed Finland´s support to the Peace Formula of his Ukranian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy and also said that Ukraine deserves full support of Finland.

In a statement issued by the President Office marking the second anniversary of Russia´s invasion of Ukraine, he also said the capacity and resources to support Ukraine for the long run must be ensured.

“Ukraine deserves our full support. And we must make sure that we have the capacity and resources to support in the long run. We need to rapidly ramp up our defence industrial production,” said Niinistö in the statement.

He said that Ukrainians have been faced with unspeakable horrors of the war and at the same time, they have continued to heroically protect their freedom and independence.

“At the same time, we must work towards peace. Finland supports President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and the initiative for a peace summit. Ukraine deserves a just and lasting peace that respects its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” the President added.
