Woman gets 8-year jail for killing husband

The District Court of Kainuu on Thursday sentenced a woman to eight years in prison for murder and assault of her husband, reported the Finnish language daily Kaleva.

The woman was prosecuted for aggravated assault and murder which took place at different times. In the first case, the court ruled that the case did not fulfil the criteria of aggravated assault and sentenced the woman for assault.

The murder took place in September this year when a dispute erupted between the woman and her husband.

During the incident, the woman stabbed the man in the chest with a kitchen knife. The man later succumbed to the injuries inflicted.

The woman tried to resuscitate the man and called for help.
