1 killed in Helsinki, 2 dead in level crossing, road mishaps

One person was allegedly killed at Vuosaari area in Helsinki on Tuesday, police said in a press release.

Responding to an alarm from an outsider at about 1:00 pm police rushed to the spot at Ulappasaarentie area and recovered the body of the deceased from there.

The identity of the victim, however, could not be known immediately.

Police suspected a violent crime in connection with the death but did not divulge details at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

Police will continue the investigation into the incident to find out more information in this regard.

Meanwhile, one person was killed in an accident at a level crossing in Kiuruvedi, a municipality in the North Savo region on Tuesday, police said in another press release in the afternoon.

The accident took place when a train knocked down the person at Ryönänjoki level crossing.

The police, however, did not divulge the identity of the victim and detail information about the accident.

Meanwhile, one person was killed in another road accident at Kruunupyy, a municipality in Ostrobothnia region on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place when a private car skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch after head-on collision with a covered van on Valtatie road.

The driver, who was alone in the car was killed on the spot while driver of the covered van was injured.

Police did not disclose the detail identities of the deceased and the injured person.

The accident disrupted vehicular movements on the road for several hours.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.
