Kokoomus tops popularity contest: poll

Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) remains the most popular party in the country, according to a recent poll by national broadcaster Yle.

Despite a 2.5 percent drop in support, Kokoomus leads with 19.8 percent ahead of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) and Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) who are both tied in second place with 17.8 percent of the support.

SDP's support has dropped by nearly 2 percent from the previous survey, while Keskusta improved its position slightly.

The current poll puts the support for Vihreä liitto (Green League) at 14 percent and 8.6 percent for Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party).

According to the poll, the small parties all showed improvement in their support.

The survey showed that 2.5 percent of the electorate would vote for Sinistä tulevaisuutta (Blue Reform), the breakaway party formed by members who left Finns Party. In the previous poll, the support for Blue Reform was at 1.1 percent.
