3rd body of Lapland hostel fire found after 3 weeks

Police recovered the body of another victim of the Lapland hostel fire from the debris of the burnt hostel after about three weeks of the incident, said Lapland police in a release on Friday.

Two people were burnt to death and another was missing in the fire broke out at the Silver Fox hostel at Äkäslompolo area in Lapland on February 13.

The firefighters recovered two bodies on the following day of the fire while the rest one had been missing since then.

A cadaver dog of the police found the third body, said police, adding that they confirmed the identities of all of the three deceased through DNA test.

One of them was Finnish national while the rest two were Germans.

Finnish police also informed the Germany police in this regard.

Police, however, did not divulge the identities of the deceased.

About 30 boarders of the hostel, most of them are tourists from the Central European countries managed to escape immediately after the fire.
