Vehicle involved in Tampere fatal mishap belongs to Army

The vehicle, which knocked down a taxi in Tampere on Saturday resulting death of the taxi driver, belongs to Finnish Defence Forces, said Army in a press release on Sunday.
The driver is a part-time employee of Army and used the unauthorized vehicle Toyota Hilux without permission.
The person was alone in the vehicle, which was not being used in official activities at the time of the incident, said the Defence Force.
The taxi driver was killed in the accident at Viinika in Tampere on Saturday morning when the army vehicle knocked down his taxi, which remained standing at a traffic signal at the intersection of Lempääläntie and Kuokkamaantie, from the behind.
Police arrested the driver of the army vehicle, who is suspected of aggravated murder, aggravated endangering traffic safety, aggravated drunk driving, firearms offense and resisting an official violently.
The police are investigating into the accident to find out detail in this regard.
