Ex President Halonen hospitalised for gastroenteritis

Former President Tarja Halonen has been admitted to hospital after being infected with gastroenteritis, said the President Office in a press release on Tuesday.

Halonen, the 80-year old politician, fell ill with a virulent norovirus on Saturday was taken to the hospital.

She is undergoing treatment at the hospital and already feeling better, the press release added.

The Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) leader, Tarja Halonen was President of Finland for two consecutive terms from 2000 to 2012.
