Stubb discusses border, EU security with Rinkēvičs, Nausėda

President Alexander Stubb on Wednesday held separate telephone conversations with his Latvian and Lithuanian counterparts Edgars Rinkēvičs and Gitanas Nausėda respectively and discussed various bilateral and international issues, said the President Office in separate press releases.
Stubb and Rinkēvičs discussed the bilateral relations between Finland and Latvia, the security situation in Europe and preparations for the NATO Summit in Washington in July.
“Had a good phone call with President of Finland alexstubb (Alexander Stubb), we discussed regional security issues, situation on the EU external borders as well as EU and NATO cooperation between Latvia and Finland,” Rinkēvičs wrote in a post in social media platform after the phone call.
The discussion between Stubb and Nausėda focused on bilateral relations between Finland and Lithuania, the border situation and Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“Great call with Finnish President alexstubb (Alexander Stubb). Finland is an important partner of Lithuania in EU and NATO. Looking forward to cooperating on strengthening the security of the Baltic Sea region& the entire eastern NATO flank. Let‘s make this NATO lake safer than ever!” Nausėda wrote in a post in social media platform after the phone call.
