Man killed by falling lumbers while working in Nivala forest

One person was killed by falling lumbers in a forest at Nivala, a municipality in North Ostrobothnia region on Saturday afternoon.

Police said that the accident took place at about 4:30 pm when the middle-aged man was unloading lumbers using a tractor and trailer.

At certain stage, the man fell down and a load of lumbers had fallen on him. He died on the spot.

Responding to an alarm, Police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body from under the lumbers.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identity of the deceased.

The Police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the death.
