The pre-trial investigation into the stabbings of a number of persons by an assailant in the coastal town of Turku in August last year is likely to be completed at the turn of the month, said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Lead investigator Olli Töyräs said the pre-trial record will in due time provide answers to “many questions”, reported the local media.
The suspect Abderrahman Bouanane is being investigated for two cases of murder and eight attempted murders. The man has admitted to stabbing 10 persons at Turku city centre.
The District Court of Southwest Finland in autumn ordered for the suspect to undergo a psychiatric assessment. The result of the test is expected at the beginning of the year.
The prosecution have until the end of February to raise the charges.
The other man suspected of involvement in the act is still at large. An international search warrant was issued against the suspect.
