President Alexander Stubb will make a two-day official visit to Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday, said the President Office in a recent press release.

He will meet European and NATO leaders and discuss various contemporary issues including security and defence policy, the situation in Ukraine and the upcoming NATO summit in Washington, D.C.

Stubb will meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President of the European Council Charles Michel, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.

The programme will also include a meeting with European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.

The President will also give a speech on the new era of defence at a discussion event to be held at the Friends of Europe think tank.

The visit is Stubb’s first working visit to Belgium as the President of the country.

The former President, Sauli Niinistö made his latest visit to Belgium in April 2023 to attend the ceremony to mark the accession of Finland to NATO.
