Stubb, Borrell discuss EU security, Ukraine

President Alexander Stubb on Tuesday held a meeting with Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell in Brussels and discussed various European and international issues.

“We discussed our support to Ukraine as well as the need to further improve the EU’s preparedness and comprehensive security and strengthen European defence capabilities,” Stubb wrote in a post in social media platform X.

“It was a pleasure to meet Alexander Stubb for the 1st time in his capacity of President of Finland. We discussed EU’s security commitment and Finland's unwavering support to Ukraine,” Borrell wrote in a post in X.

Earlier on the day, the President has begun his two-day visit to Belgium where Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo welcomed him.

Stubb will meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President of the European Council Charles Michel, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy during his visit.
