Finland and the EU are making efforts to influence all parties to refrain from actions that further undermine regional security in the Middle East, according to the President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy.
The committee on Monday held an extra-ordinary meeting and discussed Iran’s attack on Israel in the night between Saturday and Sunday and situation in the Middle East, said an official press release.
The meeting observed that Finland will maintain active contact with the countries in the region.
Finland strongly condemned Iran’s strike and emphasised the critical importance of de-escalation in the current tense situation in the Middle East, the committee observed.
Iran launched a combined attack of dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones on Israel early on Sunday.
The Israeli military said on Sunday that it intercepted about 99 percent of more than 300 missiles and drones Iran launched late Saturday in its first direct attack against Israel.
