The Finnish Red Cross will deliver reserve power generators, mattresses, blankets and water cannons for the people affected by the extensive power cuts in the Kainuu region, reported the local media.
Seven reserve generators, 1,080 water canisters, 800 mattresses, and 840 blankets were loaded to a truck at the Red Cross logistics centre in Tampere on Saturday.
The generators will be installed at nursing homes in cooperation with the local authorities.
Suomussalmi and Hyrynsalmi remain the areas affected the most by the power outage.
Red Cross volunteers will help the afflicted people in conjunction with the local authorities and rescue services.
