A man was found dead at the dock of the Jätkäsaari Harbour in Helsinki on Saturday, reports the local media outlet MTV news.

A staff-member at Hotel Clarion made the emergency call, said chief fire-fighter on duty Sami Lappalainen.

The rescue services received the alarm at around 11:00 am. According to Lappalainen, there was no eye witness account to explain how the victim fell into the sea.

The man was found dead and could not be saved.

“He was lifeless when the body was recovered. There is nothing more which could have been done,” Lappalainen said.

The police are investigating the cause of the death.
