Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on Thursday expressed concern over the violence against protestors in Georgia.
Terming the violence as unacceptable, Valtonen in a post in her social media platform X said that People have the right to demonstrate against the law on foreign influence.
“Worrying scenes in Georgia. Violence against peaceful protestors is not acceptable. Georgia was granted EU candidate status and we expect Georgia to stay on that path, which is the people’s choice. People have the right to demonstrate against the law on foreign influence,” the Foreign Minister wrote.
A significant number of people were injured during the protests after parliament approved the second reading of the controversial "foreign agent" bill on Wednesday.
