Stubb, Zelenskyy discuss Finland´s support to Ukraine over phone

President Alexander Stubb on Tuesday had a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discuss various issues including Finland and Europe’s support to Ukraine, said the President Office in a press release.

The Presidents also held discussion on the upcoming peace summit in Switzerland.

Stubb, who will attend the summit hoped that as many colleagues as possible will be able to join the summit.

“President Zelenskyy called. We discussed the upcoming peace summit in Switzerland, which I will attend. I hope as many colleagues as possible will be able to join. We also spoke about Finland’s and Europe’s support to Ukraine. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I will continue these discussions in Berlin,” Stubb wrote in a post in the social media platform X after the conversation.

The Ukrainian Head of State thanked Stubb for his leadership in implementing the Ecological Safety provision of the Peace Formula and the active involvement of Finland in other areas, said the Ukrainian President Office in a press release.

The Presidents also discussed the continuation of defense cooperation and the possibility of engaging Finnish experience in the construction of civilian shelters, the press release added.

“I am grateful to President Stubb for confirming his attendance at the Peace Summit. We also discussed our continued defense cooperation and the possibility of Ukraine utilizing Finland's experience in civilian shelter construction. I am grateful to Finland for all of its support and assistance to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post in X.
