New conscripts begin military service on January 8 Monday. About 12,500 new recruits have been enlisted to begin the military service, said the local media.
About 400 women volunteers will also begin the military service.
The majority of new recruits totalling about 10,000 conscripts will be enlisted in the Army and about 1,500 will begin their military career in the Navy.
The rest are divided between the Border Guard and the Air Force.
The Swedish-speaking conscripts will begin service mainly in the Uusimaa Brigade.
The length of the service depending on the training is 165,255 or 347 days.
