Fake police officers incidents on rise

The police have received several reports of fake police officers in January, said the East Uusimaa Police Department.

In one incident, two women received phone calls from a person claiming to be a police officer, according to the MTV news report. The fake police officer tried to obtain bank codes from one of the women.

Both women have been requested to visit the police station to explain the situation.

Incidents of people posing as police officers have been on the rise recently. In some cases, the victims have lost large sums from their account.

The police have emphasised that they never ask for bank codes or passwords, and that confidential banking information such as bank codes and passwords should not be disclosed to anyone.
