Finland and the United States signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) in Washington on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Defence in a press release.

The Statement of Intent between The Office of the United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict and Ministry of Defense, Finland.

Director General Janne Kuusela signed the SoI on behalf of the Finnish Ministry of Defence.

Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen is currently visiting the United States.

"The statement of intent now signed will help Finland develop our defence and further deepen our defence cooperation with the United States," Antti Häkkänen said.

"Regular exercises in the Baltic Sea and Northern Finland and other training activities are examples of the good cooperation between our countries' special operations forces," Häkkänen added.
