Confidential information has been leaked from the Embassy of Finland to Ottawa, Canada, said police in a press release on Thursday referring to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry filed a complaint with the police in this regard and the police started an investigation into the incident.

According to the ministry, the confidential information has been leaked to the media, which might endanger the protection of the accusers.

Police, however, did not divulge the details about the incident at the initial stage of the preliminary investigation.

The police will provide further information in this regard later, if necessary.

Earlier in March this year, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs started an investigation into the allegations of harassment at the Finnish Embassy in Ottawa filed by its employees against the Ambassador.

Local newspapers reported that some employees of the embassy submitted allegations of disruptive and inappropriate behaviors by Ambassador Jari Vilén to the ministry.
