Teenage girl killed in Valkeakoski, man held

A teenage girl was killed at Valkeakoski, a municipality in Pirkanmaa region early Saturday, police said in a press release.

Police said that they received a missing report in the morning that the 15-year old girl, who went outside of the home on Friday evening, did to return at night.

Later a young person, who was together with the girl on Friday evening found the body in a nearby forest and informed the emergency service accordingly.

Responding to the alarm, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The police, however, did not divulge details about the incident and identity of the deceased.

Police also arrested a man from Valkeakoski area on Saturday evening in connection with the murder and interrogating him to know about his involvement, said police on Sunday.

Although police initially started investigation into the case as suspected murder, now investigating into the case as murder.

Police did not suspect the young person, who found the body in the forest of the alleged murder.

“The preliminary investigation into the incident is at very early stage, and the police cannot provide more information on the matter at this moment for the interest of the investigation,” said Crime Inspector Jani Ortamala.

The police are also seeking information from the eyewitness to know detail about the suspected murder.
