Man dies in police custody in Helsinki

A man died in the detention cell of police at Pasila in Helsinki on Monday morning, police said in a press release on Monday evening.

The police, however, did not divulge details about the reason behind the death of the 35-year man but said that he died despite the move to resuscitation.

The West Uusimaa police are investigating into the death to ensure transparency of the police operation in this regard.

The prosecutor office will also probe into the involvement of police in connection with the incident led by Mari Eerola, the head of the investigation.

Helsinki police prison is the largest police prison in Finland.
