Stubb congratulates newly elected President of Iceland

President Alexander Stubb on Sunday congratulated Halla Tomasdottir for her election as the President of Iceland.

The Stubb in a post in his social media plat X also expressed interest to work closely together with Tomasdottir in both bilaterally and as Nordics.

“Warm congratulations Halla Tomas for your election as the President of Iceland! I look forward to working closely together with you both bilaterally and as Nordics,” the Finnish President wrote in his post.

Tomasdottir has been elected Iceland's new president, official data from the Icelandic national broadcaster RUV showed Sunday, reported Xinhua.

According to the RUV, with over 210,000 votes counted, Tomasdottir led her opponents with 34.3 percent of the vote, followed by former Prime Minister Katrina Jakobsdottir, who came in second with 25.2 percent.
