Motorcyclist killed in road mishap at Haapajärvi

A woman was killed in a road accident at Haapajärvi, a municipality near Oulu in Northern Ostrobothnia region on Saturday evening, police said in a press release on Sunday.

The accident took place at about 5:45 p.m. when two motorcycles coming from Haapajärvi direction were trying to overtake a car at Autioranta area on their way to Nivala direction.

At the same time a van, which was running in front of the car turned into left to Kujalantie road and knocked down one of the motorcycles.

Driver of the motorcycle, a middle-aged woman died on the spot while another motorcycle managed to escape the accident.

The Police, however, did not divulge detail identity about the deceased.

The Accident Investigation Board and Oulu Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
