Majority Finns see govt´s failure to handle social, health issues

Majority of the people in Finland believe that the present four-party alliance government led by the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) failed to perform adequately to handle the social and healthcare issues, according to a survey commissioned by the Foundation for Municipal Development (Kaks).

About 64 percent of the respondents expressed their dissatisfaction over the government's performance on social and health issues, said Kaks in a press release on Saturday referring to the survey.

The survey results showed that government performance was satisfactory on few issues, including managing the foreign, security and defense issues.

Fifty nine percent people think that the government´s performance on foreign, security and defence policy was fairly or very well.

The survey conducted by pollster Verian from June 1 to June 5 through conducting interviews with 1062 people on 16 difference issues.

About 51 percent respondents expressed dissatisfaction over government´s performance on education and culture, 47 percent dissatisfied with tax issue, 46 percent expressed dissatisfaction over employment issue and 46 percent dissatisfied with government role on economy.

Only 23 percent respondents think that the government was successful to take care of the needs of them and their families, 45 percent expressed dissatisfaction while 27 percent think that the government somehow manage the issue.

The margin of error of the survey result was just under 3 percent in either direction.
