Elderly man drowns in Maalahti

An elderly man drowned in water at Maalahti, a municipality in Ostrobothnia region late Saturday night, police said in a press release on Sunday.

The accident took place at about 9:30 pm when the man went for swimming in the water near a beach at the locality after sauna.

Responding to an alarm police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the man from the water.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identity of the deceased.

The Police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the death.
