2 killed in road mishaps at Orimattila, Pyhäjoki

Two persons were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents at Orimattila and Pyhäjoki on Sunday and Saturday respectively, police said on Sunday.

One of the accidents took place at Myrskyläntie in Orimattila, a municipality under Päijät-Häme region when a private car skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch at about at about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

A 17-year-old boy, who was driving the car died on the spot while two others teenage passengers were injured in the accident.

The injured persons were taken to the hospital but police said they were not in critical condition.

The speed limit of the road was 60 kilometers per hour and the driver had a valid driving lisence.

The police, however, did not divulge detail identities of the deceased and the injured people.

Meanwhile, another accident took place at Parlahahti area in Pyhäjoki, a municipality under North Ostrobothnia region on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred when the driver of a private car lost control while overtaking other vehicles and fell into a roadside forest.

The driver, who was alone onboard died on the spot in the accident.

Police did not disclose the identity of the deceased but said he was a man hailed from Pyhäjoki.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accidents to find out the reasons behind the deaths.
