Man allegedly commits suicide by train in Hattula

An elderly man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of an approaching train at Parola railway station in Hattula, a municipality under Kanta-Häme region on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place at about 8:20 a.m. when the man had jumped onto the track at the station and was struck by a train heading towards Tampere.

Although the driver tried to stop the train through emergency brake, the collision could not be avoided resulting spot death of the man.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident disrupted rail communication on the route for about one hour.

The Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident and are investigating into the case to find out the reason behind the death.
