Russian vessel suspected of violating Finnish marine area

A Russian vessel is suspected of a territorial violation of Finland's marine area in the eastern Gulf of Finland on Friday afternoon, said the Ministry of Defence in a press release.

As the highest territorial surveillance authority, the Ministry of Defence directs and coordinates the activities of the territorial surveillance authorities in matters related to territorial surveillance.

The Border Guard is investigating into the incident and will provide further information as the investigation progresses.

The previous confirmed territorial violation took place on 10 June 2024, when four Russian state aircraft entered Finland's airspace off the coast of Loviisa and Porvoo.
