1 of 2 children rescued from Vantaa beach dies

One of the two children rescued from Kuusijärvi beach in Vantaa on July 26 died, police said in a press release on Friday.

The accident took place when a seven-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl of a same family went missing in the water while playing near the beach.

Later they were found unconscious in the water. Resuscitation was immediately begun, after which the children were taken to a hospital.

The boy died in the hospital on Friday.

Th condition of the girl was also critical, said police.

The Eastern Uusimaa Police are investigating into the incident and suspected the parents of the children of crime at the preliminary stage.

Meanwhile, the City of Vantaa extended its condolences to the relatives and friends of the victim´s family.

The police will inform about the matter after completion of the preliminary investigation.
