The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Friday said that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs urged the Finnish people to avoid all travelling to Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Iran following the prevailing tense situation in the Middle East.

Finnish nationals still in Lebanon have been urged to leave the country.

The committee at a meeting discussed the tense situation in the Middle East and the situation of Finnish nationals in the region, said an official press release.

The committee also discussed Finland’s preparations for its chairpersonship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2025 and the priorities of its chairpersonship programme.

Earlier on August 3, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs urged the Finnish people to avoid all travelling to Israel.
