17 killed in road mishaps in Finland last month

A total of 17 persons were killed and 304 others injured in 249 separate road accidents in the country in July 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of deaths was one lower and number of persons injured 52 lower than in July 2023.

Out of the deceased, nine travelled by passenger car and five by motorcycle in July 2024. Killed pedestrians numbered one and cyclists two.

Among those who died, 15 were men and two women.

Meanwhile, a total of 89 people were killed and 1,769 others injured in 1,440 road accidents in Finland from January to July.

The number of deaths was two higher and number of persons injured 153 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023.

Of the persons who were killed, 47 travelled by passenger car, four by van, two by moped, 11 by motorcycle and one by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 10 and cyclists seven.

In addition, seven other road users were killed.
