The national social insurance institution- Kela has published its benefit guides following the numerous changes to various benefits, which will impact people’ lives, said Kela in a press release on Monday.
The 2024 edition of the guides included up-to-date information about Kela’s benefits on the Kela website in Finnish, Swedish, English, Sami and sign language.
Earlier this year, Kela decided to cut various benefits including housing and unemployment following the austerity measures taken by the present four-party alliance government led by the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP).
The guides explained the Finnish social welfare system in a concise and clear way.
The guides described the different types of benefits that are suitable for various life situations.
The content has been updated to include the new amounts of benefits and all other changes introduced in 2024.
The guides are especially useful for those who have recently moved to Finland and who cannot speak Finnish or Swedish yet.
The benefit guides are available at Kela’s customer service points. Partner organisations can order (free of charge) via email from Kela at [email protected].
