12 killed in road accidents in Dec

At least 12 persons were killed and 416 others injured in 326 road accidents in December 2017, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was three less and the number of persons injured was 60 less than that in December 2016.
Seven of the persons killed were travelling by passenger cars and one by lorry. The pedestrians killed in road accidents in December 2017 numbered two and cyclists one. In addition, another road user was killed. Among those who died, seven were men and five were women.
A total of 4,420 road accidents involving personal injury happened from January to December 2017. Of them, 212 persons were killed and 5,570 persons were injured.
The number of persons killed was 28 less and the number of persons injured was 311 less than those in the corresponding period of 2016.
Of the persons who were killed, 124 were travelling by passenger cars, 10 by van, four by mopeds, 12 by motorcycles, and 10 by trucks, while one was travelling by bus. The number of pedestrians killed was 27 and that of cyclists 12. In addition, 12 other road users were killed.
