Ranne takes over as Interior Minister in addition to Transport, Communications

Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne on Friday took over as the Interior Minister in addition to her present responsibilities, said an official press release.

Ranne took the new role on temporary basis following the leave of Interior Minister Mari Rantanen until the end of the year due to her child's illness.

The President on Friday released Rantanen from her duties as Minister of the Interior and her membership in the Government at her request.

In the same session, the President designated Ranne to assume the Minister of the Interior’s duties and appointed her as Minister of Transport, Communications and the Interior.

Rantanen will return to her post as Minister of the Interior later in the government term.
